This Cookie Policy explains how Testimoniq uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our service. By using Testimoniq, you consent to the use of essential cookies. Analytics and tracking cookies require your explicit consent. Before you answer the banner we measure page views and report crashes without setting any cookie; declining turns that off too.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you use the site. We also use similar technologies like local storage for the same purposes.
1. Essential Cookies (Always Active)
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Supabase authentication session | Session |
| sb-*-auth-token-code-verifier | OAuth PKCE security verification | Session |
| TQ_LOCALE | Stores your language preference (English / Spanish) | 1 year |
| tq_analytics_consent | Remembers whether you accepted analytics (1) or declined (0), so server-side analytics follows your choice. Holds no identifier. Not set until you answer the banner. | 1 year |
2. Analytics Cookies (Require Consent)
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website and improve our service. They are only set if you consent to analytics. Until then PostHog and Vercel Analytics run in a cookieless mode: they count the visit, keep the identifier in memory for the tab only, and write nothing to your device.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| ph_* | PostHog analytics (page views, feature usage) | 1 year |
| _vercel_* | Vercel Analytics (performance metrics) | Session |
3. Error Tracking (No Cookie, Opt Out Anytime)
We use Sentry to track and fix errors. Error reports set no cookie and are scrubbed of personal details before they leave your browser, so they run under legitimate interest until you switch Error tracking off in the banner or in Settings. Session replay is separate. If you enable it, PostHog records how you use the app with all text and form fields masked.
| Technology | Purpose | Consent Required |
|---|---|---|
| Sentry Error Tracking | Capture JavaScript errors for debugging | Error Tracking |
| PostHog Session Replay | Record how you use the app, with all text and form fields masked | Session Replay |
| Sentry Session Replay | Loads when you enable replay; we do not currently record sessions with it | Session Replay |
4. Local Storage
We use browser local storage for preferences that persist across sessions.
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
| testimoniq-cookie-consent | Stores your cookie consent preferences |
| testimoniq-theme | Stores your light/dark theme preference |
5. Conversion Tracking on Customer Sites
If you own a site that uses the optional Testimoniq conversion script, the script sets one first-party cookie on that site and sends page-level beacons to Testimoniq. That site owner decides whether visitors must consent first, and can hold the script back until they do. The script never runs for visitors whose browser sends Global Privacy Control.
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tq_seen (cookie) | Records which testimonial widgets a visitor has seen, to measure conversion lift | 30 days |
| tq_sid, tq_token, tq_pinged (sessionStorage) | Session identifier and signed token for the beacons | Browser tab |
6. Managing Your Preferences
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time:
- In-app settings: Visit your account settings to update privacy preferences.
- Cookie banner: Clear your browser cookies and reload the page to see the consent banner again.
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies in their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.
7. Third-Party Services
Cookie-writing tools (PostHog with analytics cookies, Sentry session replay) load only after you consent; the cookieless visit count and crash reporting described above run until you decline. Our subprocessors are also summarized in our Privacy Policy. Please refer to vendor privacy policies for more detail:
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
9. Contact
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please contact us at support@testimoniq.com.
